HYROX has exploded because it gives people something modern gyms often lost along the way: a reason to train.
Not just "get fit". A race. A challenge. A measurable goal. Something to prepare for.
At Gymnasium Ealing, we offer dedicated HYROX classes, but the truth is: great HYROX performance is built across your whole training week.
What You Need to Train For HYROX
Finishing HYROX is different from racing it. Racing HYROX requires:
- Strength (stations demand structural capability)
- Engine (aerobic capacity for repeated efforts)
- Pacing (managing fatigue across eight kilometres)
- Resilience (mental and physical durability)
- Movement efficiency (form holds when tired)
- Technical skill (sled mechanics, wall ball strategy)
- Consistency (training week after week)
Not just endless sled pushes until your soul leaves your body.
That's why our approach at Gymnasium Ealing combines specific training systems that build this properly.
What Is HYROX?
If you're new to it: HYROX is a global fitness race combining 8 x 1km runs with 8 functional workout stations in between.
The stations include:
- Sled push & sled pull
- Rowing and ski erg
- Burpee broad jumps
- Farmers carries
- Lunges
- Wall balls
It sits somewhere between endurance racing, functional fitness and strength conditioning. The challenge isn't just fitness—it's managing fatigue while continuing to move well under pressure.
HYROX Training at Gymnasium Ealing
We build HYROX athletes through a wider performance system rather than isolated race prep. That means:
Dedicated HYROX Classes
Our HYROX sessions focus on race-specific skills:
- Race pacing and effort management
- Station transitions and efficiency
- Sled technique and strategy
- Wall ball mastery under fatigue
- Running while compromised
- Race simulations (partner and individual formats)
You'll learn how to manage effort properly rather than going too hard in the first 12 minutes and emotionally unravelling near the lunges.
DELTΔ: Build The Engine
DELTΔ develops the aerobic engine and repeatable conditioning needed for HYROX. Across the week you'll work on:
- Threshold conditioning
- Sustained efforts and muscular endurance
- Structured intervals and aerobic capacity
- Movement quality under fatigue
These classes are scalable, coached and designed to make you fitter in the real world, not just better at surviving random suffering.
Athletica: Strength + Skill + Capacity
Athletica adds the higher-skill strength and conditioning side. Members build:
- Barbell strength and pulling strength
- Gymnastics capacity and power output
- Coordination and movement efficiency
HYROX rewards athletes who can move efficiently while tired. Athletica develops the athletic qualities that make that possible.
Run Club: The Forgotten Foundation
HYROX is fundamentally a running event interrupted by functional stations.
Many people focus entirely on sleds and wall balls while ignoring the thing they do eight times.
Our Ealing run club builds:
- Aerobic base and pacing awareness
- Running economy and confidence over distance
- Recovery between stations
The better your engine, the more enjoyable HYROX becomes. Simple. Brutal. True.
Full HYROX Simulations
We regularly run full HYROX simulations at Ealing. That means:
- Race-format sessions with proper pacing practice
- Station sequencing and event prep
- Strategy testing and fuelling practice
- Mental preparation for race day
There's a huge difference between being "fit" and understanding how to manage a HYROX race. Simulations close that gap.
HYROX Training for Beginners
Most people starting HYROX are not elite athletes. They're normal people who want a challenge, need structure, enjoy training with others, want accountability and like having a goal.
Our coaching is designed to scale properly. You do not need:
- Elite conditioning or advanced lifting
- A six-pack or protein sponsorship
- To shout "let's gooooo" every 14 seconds
You just need consistency and willingness to train. We'll adjust everything else.
"HYROX training is about building capability across strength, conditioning and movement. Done properly, it's sustainable. Done with community, it's genuinely enjoyable."
Why People Train for HYROX at Gymnasium Ealing
Because the environment matters.
You train harder when:
- Coaches know your name
- People encourage each other
- The programming makes sense
- The sessions flow properly
- The standards are high
- The atmosphere has energy
HYROX can become very lonely if you only train alone. Done properly, it becomes social, motivating and genuinely enjoyable. That's the difference coached group training makes.
